To this day the charity continues to help working horses, providing horses and ponies who have served our nation with a dignified retirement at our Home of Rest for Horses.

Picking Grapes in Seer Green

Picking Grapes in Seer Green

We were invited to help harvest grapes this afternoon at the Seer Green vineyard, which was a great experience with thankfully lots of sunshine! It is a very friendly, family run vineyard which currently has  Pinot noir, Auxerrois Blanc de Laquenexy and Serval Blanc cultivars. If you would like to learn more about it visit www.seergreenvineyard.co.uk

Veal on the Menu

Our slow cooked veal cheek in port red wine, with white truffle oil mash, was a particular favourite last night. Veal is a very under-used, and underestimated in the UK, however there is a very strong argument for eating veal – but only British high-welfare or British rose veal*. Make sure that any veal you do buy is ethical. Speak to your butcher to ensure it has been approved by the Freedom Food scheme. Freedom Food is the only UK assurance and food-labeling scheme dedicated solely to improving farm animal welfare. We will only use only Freedom Foods veal.
